May is Older Americans Month, and this year’s theme is Powered by Connection. Join the Older Adults’ Equity Collaborative (OAEC) for their webinar highlighting innovative programming that fosters social connection. The OAEC includes five ACL-funded national Minority Aging Technical Assistance and Resource Centers (TARCs) that each focus on serving a unique community. Together, they work to ensure access and equity across aging services programs by providing technical assistance to the aging services network. To support collaboration and cross-cutting efforts among TARCs, ACL also funds a coordinating center.
Learn about ways the TARCs (below) are utilizing social media, in-person programming, hotlines, apps, and more to help connect diverse older adults, their caregivers, and the aging and disability networks:
- National Indian Council on Aging (NICOA)
- National Hispanic Council on Aging (NHCOA)
- National Caucus and Center on Black Aging (NCBA)
- Advocacy & Services for LGBTQ+ Elders (SAGE)
- University of Illinois Aging Services Inclusive of Asian American Networks (ASIAAN)
This webinar is hosted by the OAEC Coordinating Center, which is administered by the Center for Healthy Aging at New York Academy of Medicine. The webinar will include Zoom-automated closed captions. Contact gmorton@nyam.org with any questions.
