Atypical dementia syndromes refers to dementias other than the more common diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Examples include vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies, and frontotemporal dementia. They are sometimes confused with AD. This tip sheet provides an overview and information for care coordinators, case managers, and others providing support for people with dementia.
